You are far from alone. I'm a lifelong Liberal Democrat and I voted for Trump last November, largely because of the Democrats' pathetic response to rising antisemitism. And I'm not Jewish, just an Irish-American Catholic with a functioning moral compass.
But can this “Jewish question “ sustain us in this support? Much is discussed now that is placed under the title of “dictatorship.” Hannah Arendt is evoked by many as someone who warned against dictators and he is placed under this rubric. Especially his efforts against gangs and pro-Palestinians. It is troubling how all this is spun. And tariffs. How do we disentangle all this beyond just the “Jewish question.” I no longer have confidence in democrats but the current discourse is troubling.
I like what Trump is doing both in kicking out foreign antisemites and tariffs. He's not being a dictator, but its precisely the goal of the modern Democrat party to create a marxist dictatorship.
Until reading your latest article, I felt morally confused, (yet instinctively outraged) about the level of support for these ivy league “activists” by my more liberal family members.
I see the blatant hypocrisy in calling speech “violence”(micro aggressions) while pretending actual violence and/or intimidation becomes a “free speech” issue; however, by exposing a deeper, more abstract (and nuanced) layer you have revealed how disingenuous (and dangerous) these fellow Jews truly are.
Progressive Jews are some of the biggest antisemites and antisemite enablers in the world. So long as the Jewish community fails to call them out just as it would antisemitic Muslims, Arabs, white NeoNazi's etc. the entire community's claims for protection and justice are seriously undermined. The state of Israel has a role to play here too retracting the right to return to Israel from any person..including progressive Jews...who endorse anti-Zionist antisemitism. Never again applies to the Jewish community too.
On Israel National News, these red-diaper babies are casually dismissed as "erev rav" (the mixed multitude that followed the real Israelites out of Egypt). We are going to continue to have problems as long as there is a conflation between the Israelite ethnicity and the Israelite religion, both currently described as "Jewish".
For decades, we have treated the political spectrum as a symbol for differing opinions on certain topics, overlying a unity on the foundations of our civilization. I no longer accept that. The left wants to destroy Western civilization. Their behavior is objectively self-destructive and destructive to neighbors, so it is justified to call them mentally ill. (I repeat my mantra: the left is the totalitarian id.) And if three-quarters of ethnic Jews are on the left, more than any ethnicity other than blacks, it raises an uncomfortable question about Jewish mental health.
I urge my fellow American Jews to never donate to self-appointed federations or the Jewish agency alphabet soup. I get fundraising letters all the time, and I can see in their publications that their agenda is not consistent with the Bible or with my survival. There are plenty of worthy causes to which you may donate. Jews whose values are found in the Bible, Declaration of Independence, and Constitution should feel comfortable publicly denouncing and renouncing these leftists who share some biological DNA with us, but learned nothing from history.
I think centuries of assimilation and attempts at survival may have clouded some Jewish brains. But Jews are 0.2% of population. But what about the rest of the Western civilization that is inviting terrorism to destroy it?
fox banned from henhouse, large group of chickens complain?! (what kinda fer-cock-ta chickens are these?! not kosher ones!)
I keep hearin' self-preservation is a jewish trait but seein' our fellow choos make baaaad decisions I'm wartchin' sheep trottin' along to a slaughter (yeesh, the optics alone are baaad)
"The same establishment figures telling us to our face that arresting Hamas supporters will endanger our civil rights applauded when elderly women were locked up for blocking abortion clinics."
I'm amazed at the number of people I have to remind that the anti-abortionists have been politically represented by a terrorist front that bombed clinics, shot doctors and sent volunteers anthrax in the mail. You should know that many "pro-choice" advocates can't seem to remember this either. You sound suspiciously alike.
Also worth noting is that part of why the anti-abortion terror stopped was the rise of Muslim terrorists in the US, even before 9-11. One might imagine a kind of nexus existed, but of course Muslim terrorists are not shy about killing babies, even if they had the fevered imaginations necessary to insist a woman's pregnancy is a baby.
some anti-abortion groups engaged in domestic terrorism, much like animal rights protesters (look up the Huntington life stuff) environmentalists, etc
anyone who does that kind of thing should be punished regardless of their politics
but there was also an 'exemption' created to harshly criminalize civil disobedience by pro-life protesters even of the completely non-violent kind and it was enforced by the same people who claimed BLM riots were free speech
there's a basic problem when an elderly woman standing in a doorway is hit with a multi-year prison sentence while every leftist group is free to stage 'occupations' and even engage in assaults on police officers with little more than a desk appearance ticket
Nice change of topic. The author was referring to people being arrested for praying. You can't seem to tell the difference between praying and murder. But your side has a lot to answer for, if you want to talk about murder. Take a look at a live ultrasound of a turning, kicking fetus, with all its parts intact (for the time being) and say that is not a baby.
I remember my days as a pro-Israel activist, being bussed to Capitol Hill with other American Jewish pro-Israel activists. One said he appreciated the support from Christians, even though he opposed their pro-life stand. I told him he should spend some time thinking about why people who are pro-life are generally pro-Israel, and why people who are pro-abortion are generally anti-Israel. You can see the numbers here: https://news.gallup.com/poll/657404/less-half-sympathetic-toward-israelis.aspx
It is easy to tell the difference between people who pray and people who murder. But of course the problem we are seeing these days are those most likely to pray are those most likely to murder, Muslims and anti-abortionists being fellow travelers in this regard.
The Jewish establishment is more concerned with being woke than in protecting Jewish students on college campuses
So sick of it. Cannot stand all this ridiculous stupidity.
You are far from alone. I'm a lifelong Liberal Democrat and I voted for Trump last November, largely because of the Democrats' pathetic response to rising antisemitism. And I'm not Jewish, just an Irish-American Catholic with a functioning moral compass.
Thank you. That's a powerful statement.

Daniel,
Your framing of the issue is brilliant!

Chabad
How sad that everything you wrote in your post is correct.
disgusting...
These so called "as a Jew" don't speak for me...
Perfectly stated. And I was a Dem for more than 50 years. No more. This is insanity.
I think centuries of assimilation and attempts at survival may have clouded some Jewish brains. But Jews are 0.2% of population. But what about the rest of the Western civilization that is inviting terrorism to destroy it?
Sellouts. Despicable cowards and Commies.

That would depend on the doorway, why she is there and if she was alone or not.

Sorry about your delusions. This conversation is over.
